CENTER for Reproductive Health
The Cleveland Pro-Choice Action Committee is an ongoing activist organization dedicated to full reproductive freedom for all women. We have monthly meetings where we discuss political issues and plan our ongoing work. We disseminate information about a woman's right to choose, about the dangers of the so-called "Human Life Amendment,' forced sterilization, contraceptive rights and other pressing issues. We are involved in defense of the clinics, and supporting other women's
causes.
For more information as to the address, availability of childcare and other agenda items, please call Barbara at 321-6143 or Deborah/Linda at 932-9344.-
Organizational Notes
Ohio.H.B. 92 is designed to make safe abortion even more difficult for young and poor women to obtain and is moving quickly through the . legislative process. It provides that an unmarried minor, 16 or under, must obtain informed, written consent of a parent, or prove in Juvenile Court that she is sufficiently mature and well-informed to decide for herself, in order to obtain an abortion. It provides, moreover, that no less than 48 hours and not more than 30 days before a woman consents to an abortion, her physician must orally inform her of 1) a description of fetal development, and 2) possible serious complications. Finally, it requires a forced 48-hour waiting period. Cleveland Abortion Rights Action League (CARAL) urges all of us to write our representatives to vote against this bill. For further information, call Suzanne Wall at 522-0169.

People United Against Repression (PUAR) was formed in August, 1980, in response to a rash of so-called "suicides" by hanging in local area jails, and an increase in the number of beatings, harassment and murder of community people by the police. PUAR is an action-oriented,multiracial, grassroots organization, comprised of surviving family members of those who allegedly hanged themselves, victims of police abuse, activists, students, lawyers and other concerned individuals, dedicated to the struggle against repression in general and police repression in par. ticular. PUAR stresses community action programs and strategies as the proper method for redressing the many forms of repression threatening both the public and private sector. A 24-hour hotline to report complaints of police brutality/misconduct is now in effect 7 days a week. Police misconduct may be reported by dialing 851-9842. Callers should leave their name, telephone number, or other information that will enable PUAR to contact them. Calls will be returned within 24 hours, and arrangements will be made for follow-up and investigation of the complaint. The identity of callers to the hotline will be held in strict confidence. For more information, call the hotline or write PUAR, P.O. Box 05034. Cleveland, Ohio 44105.
